Overview
If you have active employer coverage through your own or a spouse's current employment at a large employer, you may be able to delay Part B without penalty.
How it works
When that coverage ends you get a special enrollment period for Part B, and a Medigap open enrollment window opens when Part B begins.
What to watch for
COBRA and retiree coverage are not treated the same as active employer coverage for this purpose. This distinction causes real penalties.
What to do next
Verify your situation in writing with your benefits administrator before delaying anything.
