Overview
Guaranteed issue rights are circumstances in which a carrier must sell you a Medigap policy regardless of health, such as losing employer coverage or a Medicare Advantage plan leaving your area.
How it works
These rights are time-limited, usually to 63 days from the triggering event, and the plans available to you may be limited to specific letters.
What to watch for
Documenting the triggering event matters. Keep the termination letter or plan notice.
What to do next
Some states extend these rights further than federal minimums. State rules matter here.
