Medigap Plan N

Lower premiums in exchange for small copays at the point of care

Plan N covers many of the same standardized benefits as Plan G, but you may pay small copayments for some office and emergency department visits, and Part B excess charges are not covered.

Eligibility: Available to people newly eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.

What Plan N helps cover

  • Part A coinsurance and hospital costs up to an additional 365 days
  • Part A deductible
  • Part A hospice care coinsurance or copayment
  • Part B coinsurance (except the copays noted below)
  • First three pints of blood
  • Skilled nursing facility care coinsurance
  • Foreign travel emergency care (up to plan limits)

What you still pay

  • The annual Part B deductible
  • Up to a set copayment for some office visits
  • Up to a set copayment for some emergency department visits that do not result in admission
  • Part B excess charges, where a provider is permitted to bill them

Who tends to consider Plan N
