Plan G is a standardized Medicare Supplement plan that helps pay most of the out-of-pocket costs Original Medicare leaves behind after you satisfy the annual Part B deductible.
Eligibility: Available to people newly eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.
What Plan G helps cover
- Part A coinsurance and hospital costs up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are used
- Part A deductible
- Part A hospice care coinsurance or copayment
- Part B coinsurance or copayment (the roughly 20% Original Medicare does not pay)
- Part B excess charges
- First three pints of blood
- Skilled nursing facility care coinsurance
- Foreign travel emergency care (up to plan limits)
What you still pay
- The annual Part B deductible
- Your monthly premium
- Items Medicare does not cover at all
